And we're done!

Fondue kicked my ass in a good way last night. [info]zamiel totally rocks my world!

I didn't know much about fondue (I thought it was just cheese and chocolate) until last night, like being able to cook bits o' meat in broth in a fondue pot. That was a lot of fun, kinda Korean barbarque-like.

And thus offically ends my B-day celebration. It was an interesting experiment, and I think I might want to repeat it when I'm 30. I might even try to *gasp* host a party then.

That would be scary, wouldn't it?

Until then, no celabrations, no mentioning (well, unless I'm still working at the Department, then I'm whoring that out for the cash-on-the-collar, why turn down free cash?) and as always, no presents.

Birthday weekend update

It was nice all around. I went to Fado on Friday night and got a yummy, nightmare causing boxty with blackened chicken and shrimp and two pints of Guinness (mmmmm, beer...) and a brownie with Guinness flavored ice cream. All was served to me by one hot number of a waitress who kept calling me "love". It was cool!

At work I got a *gasp* present. Yeah, I know, this year I'm actually doing something vaguely celabratory for once, but I still didn't want any presents (other than my usual, "world peace and a backrub" or my favorite, "an orgasm I didn't do myself"). Then again, I never do. But hey, despite attempts otherwise, I've mangaged to live a whole quater century, and I wanted to make it memorable.

So anyway, Friday this chick at work made me a little bath basket thingy that smells of coconut lime or something. I'm a pretty simple girl, I use scentless antibac soap and men's deodorant (but Axe smells so good, and actually works!), so I haven't used girly bathshit for a while. I guess I'll make use of it until it runs out, why look a free bathhorse in the mouth? And of course, I didn't tell anyone at work about my "no present" policy prior, so I couldn't really get annoyed or anything.

Saturday was the Decatur Beer Festival, and I was stoked! I sat in line for about 3 hours to make sure I got in (they only had 2000 tickets at the door) and I had a lovely time. I ran into some folk I hadn't seen in forever ([info]stnuke, [info]brazilia, [info]niobecyane, Bryan, Ryan, and Erin) and got a little too wasted to really appreciate the fine quality brews I happy ingested. Oh well, chalk it up to a newbie's mistake. I'll do better next year.

Then that was sushi! And good sushi at that. Note to self: Sushi Avenue is the place to go, and I've got to find out what stuff they used for the calamari dip...

They even gave me green tea ice cream with a candle in it. I haven't had people sing me "Happy Birthday" since I got hosed on my 19th. It was rather nice.

I guess I'm starting to deal with this whole "hanging out with a group around my age" thing. I should do it more, or something.

The hatchday fun doesn't stop yet, leaguers. I'm at the Lair right now, and [info]zamiel has promised me fondue tommorrow on my day off. After getting my ass kicked at work today, I need to go somewhere and surround myself with a relaxing presence, and actually relax (it's so difficult to do nowadays). Needless to say, I'm so amazingly stoked!

Ta-ta for now, everyone!

Okay, so I'm repeating today's plans for everyone.

I'm heading to the Decatur Beer Festival (well, after running a few humbling errands-paying bills and all)

After that I will be hanging around the Decatur MARTA station's Church Street entrance-you know, where you can see Java Monkey from-from about 7:30 until 8ish, waiting for people to arrive. Then I'm doing dinner on the square, still either Sushi Ave. or Birdis, I don't know yet.

Getting to the station is easy. Take MARTA, it's the sixth east stop from Five Points. No, really. It's the easiest way, given that parking is a bit of a bitch in downtown Decatur, and even more so if shit is going on in the square. But if you feel you must drive, the address to the station (so you can mapquest it) is:

400 Church Street
Decatur GA, 30030

Hope you see ya there, if you can!

Spawn Day plans

So, I've decided how I want to deal with the next couple of days (since I sure as hell can't do any real celabrating tonight, given that I gotta wake up at ass-tastic Friday morning):

Tonight: go out to eat with whatever money I get on my collar at work today (strange office custom, but I'll exploit it). even it's just a cheeseburger from McDonalds...

Tommorrow: I dunno, really. I need to cash my paycheck, but I don't want to stand in line at the check cashing place. I might just grin and bear it and then hit oxford for some newest yaoi manga (Maybe Yellow vol. 2 is out, or Kizuna vol. 4, Embracing Love, or even the newest Level C, excuse for smut that it is...)

Saturday: Decatur Beer Festival! And since that ends fairly early in teh evening, I'm thinking about dinner somewhere on the square, maybe Sushi Ave. or Birdis. I'm welcome to company for dinner then, so feel free to join me (shoot me an email or comment here for directions). Depending on how much cash I've thrown down this weekend, I might trip over to My Sister's Room after that, but I'm not expecting my dinner compainions to come with me to a lesbian bar (unless you really want to, hell, it'll save me cab fare home).

Sunday: Recover.

After that: I'm promised fondue...mmmmmm...

In other news, waking up late is not a good sign...time to change the location of my alarm clock again.

Your Birthdate: October 13

Being born on the 13th day of the month should help make you a better manager and organizer, but it may also give you a tendency to dominate people a bit.
You may be more responsible and self-disciplined than you realize.
Sincere and honest, you are a serious, hard working individual.

Your feeling are likely to seem somewhat repressed at times.
You are apt to be much more practical, rational, and conscious of details.
Your intolerance and insistence on complete accuracy can be irritating to some.

So, I've started reading Tomato Nation. Nice and ranty, I can dig it. Then I found this list of things the author believes that 25 year olds should realize/do. Well, since I'm hitting that quarter centry mark this year, why not figure out how I check out so far )

I would list the next set, but it is past the Jaila's bedtime, and so she must rest and stuff...maybe I'll finish it tommorrow...

Thoughts on 24....

So, usually at this point (or shortly after I wake up), I go though a self-pity litany on how much of a failure at life I am. I mean, I'm 24 now...shouldn't I be "doing something" with my life? And what does "doing something" mean? I would have like to have graduated by now...I would have loved to start on some new and amazing career that I've waited all my life to do...or something like that. I think of all of my friends that are "doing well"...wonder why did I have to be the fuckup....and get really really bummed out.

Fuck that.

I am not touching that "Update" button until I can type 10 things that are going right on this day, at this moment...I'll even put them behind a cut to spare other cynical bastards like myself. Call it my own personal birthday present.

"Always look on the bright side of life... )"

With that...let's get this bloody day over with...

...so last night I decided to take my own advice (as given to [info]edwinbronte ) and make the first move.

and it looks like I'm not going to Debbie Does Dallas the Musical alone for my b-day (not that I would have minded, but I thought it would be cool to have company)

...and it's not even October yet...

Well, I wanted to buy The Sims 2 for my b-day, but it looks like its massive cock will go through my machine like a 12 year old Japanese virgin.

So, I'll be getting myself a new video card for my 24th.

You guys know anyplace I can go to get a decent price for a card? I'm not looking for the newest, fastest thing...just something better than the apparently no-name POS in my machine now (that not even ATI, it's own creator, won't claim it)...

Unfortunatly, I can't do the online shopping thing (no card)...
